In Song, the Prophets Tell of Christ

Merry Christmas!  Today’s release is “This is Our God” – an SATB anthem based on the Old Testament prophecies of the Savior’s birth and mission.  It is the 22nd song in the new musical Old Testament Records.

For years I avoided listening to Handel’s Messiah because I knew that one day I’d want to use the same scriptures as the libretto for a new work.  All the scriptures included in this song will be very familiar to Bible readers:

That Orchestra!

I have obviously been influenced by the excellent work of The Orchestra at Temple Square and the famous Mormon Tabernacle Choir.  On the first Sunday of December for the past 30+ years, I’ve made a point of listening to their Christmas Devotional.  It is the beginning of the Christmas season for me and moves me to tears every year!

Music + Inspired Words = My heart in my throat!

My thanks to the vocalists who brought these wonderful prophecies to life through song!  As they sang these words in rehearsals, I could feel the truthfulness of these ancient promises.  It was thrilling!
