What Think Ye of Christ?

Performed in 1990, What Think Ye of Christ? is a 60-minute musical depicting the experiences of those who interacted with Jesus – John the Baptist, children, his apostles and Mary,  to name a few.  The story begins with Christ’s birth and concludes with his resurrection. What Think Ye of Christ?  features many soloists, and both a children’s and an adult choir.  Many of the songs are also appropriate for singing in worship services as solo or choral pieces.

We have retained a few of the rehearsal demo audio tracks and will release them individually over the course of the next year.  We have no market-quality video from the show.  If you have photos from the performance, please contact us  – your photos may be added to this website.

01. No Greater Love
No greater love was ever found than that of Him who sent His most beloved first-born son

Down to earth that we might live.
No greater lover than His was ever found.

He sent a Savior, His Chosen One, to pay for all the sins
All the wrongs the world had done.

He sent His Son! He sent His Son!
No greater love than His was ever found

And in the heav’ns a new star was hung to tell of His birth
Angels sang! Night was as day upon the earth. We sing:

The greatest love, the greatest love was that of Him who sent
His first-born son down from above, tho He knew that was to come.
A love as great as His was never shown

Save the love of Jesus Christ, who loved us more than life.
No greater love

02. All Men
Repent ye! Repent! The Kingdom of Heaven is at hand!
Soon Christ will come!Prepare ye the way of the Lord!

I can baptize with water to wash away your sins.
Come, bring forward a new heart, all clean and pure within.
Repent on earth to live in heav’n. No unclean thing enters therein.

For all men – All men must obey the command and be baptized.
To live again with God Our Father,
All men must repent and be baptized.
Who will come?

Soon there will come another, one mightier than I.
He will baptize the faithful with Holy Ghost by fire.
He is the Promised One. The King for whom Israel doth cry.

All men – All men must obey the command and be baptized

To live again with God Our Father,

All men must repent and be baptized.
Will you come?
“Lord, Thou art perfect. I should be baptized by Thee.”
He said, “We must fulfill all righteousness, so suffer it now to be.

For all men, yes, even I, must obey the command and be baptized.
To live again with God, my Father
And show the world all must be baptized
Even the Son”

All me – even Christ obeyed the command and was baptized.
So He could live with God, the Father
Then should we not also be baptized?

Repent ye! repent! the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand!
Soon Christ will come! Prepare ye the was of the Lord!

03. The Blackest Sheep
He said we all could be forgiven.
He said our faith could save us from our sins.
This gift that He is giving the world
Lets a bright ray of hope shine in.
What could I do? I knew what He said was true!
The moment I heard His words, “Repent and come.”
I knew my days of sinning were done.

And, yes, it was hard to take a stand.
How my friends laughed when they heard my plans.
But I really knew, what I’d heard was true!
And I would rather die than turn away.

I went into the water and washed away the stains of all my sins.
I rose from there a Daughter of Light!
How can I show my thanks to Him?
Whatever I do, His gift is greater, it’s true!
When I see Him face to face, then I will kneel.
I’ll show the humble love I feel!

He said all was forgiven! He said my faith had saved me from my sins!
The gift that He has given to me, burns like a fire here within!
Whatever I do, His gift is greater it’s true!
The tears that these eyes have cried are joyful ones,
Grateful for all Jesus has done.
“Go in Peace.” He said, “Go in Peace.”
Who’d have ever thought that I, could “Go in Peace!”

04. If You Have Faith
He can heal the sick! The dumb can speak!
The maimed are whole once again!
He tells the lame to walk- the blind to see!
Oh, who are we? The ones who know He’s the Christ
For all of our life we will praise Him!

He raises children from the dead!
To lame men He says, “Take up your bed.”
He heals the unclean!
The miracles seen all show He has power from God.

Do you have the faith to be healed?
Do you know Christ’s power is real?
“Be not afraid. Only believe.”
If your faith is strong then you can be healed.

Oh, who are we? The one who Jesus has healed!
Before Him we kneel and sing His praise! We sing His praise.

05. I Love Jesus
“Suffer the children to come to me.”
He opened His arms and He smiled at me. I ran to him.
I’m glad we could be with Jesus.

He lifted me up to sit on his knee.
He looked in my eyes when He talked to me. (I liked that!)
I’m glad we could be with Jesus.

Oh, I love Jesus. I know that He is my friend.
I love Jesus, and I want to be with Him again.

He put His hands gently upon my head
And in His sweet voice He so softly said, “Please bless them.”
I’m glad we could be with Jesus.

Oh, I love Jesus. I know that He is my friend.
I love Jesus, and I want to be with Him again.

He said we were humble and pure and kind
And spirits like our we were sure to find in Heaven.
He said, “Such is the kingdom of Heaven.”

Oh, I love Jesus. I know that He is my friend.
I love Jesus, and i want to be with Him again.
I want to live with Him again.

06. Hosanna
Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion!
Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem!
Behold, on a colt, thy King cometh:
In triumph, in glory comes He.
Come and see!

He rode through the multitude in majesty.
They laid down their coats to honor Him.
With palms waving high, and love in their eyes,
They shouted, they praised Him and sang:

Hosanna! Hosanna! Hosanna!
Blessed is He that cometh in the name of the lord
Hosanna! Hosanna! Blessed be the King!
Glory in the highest! Hosanna!

When He was come to the city
Jerusalem was moved, saying, “Who is He?”
Is this the Anointed? The Promised Messiah?
Who is He, this Jesus of Galilee?”

Though palms waved on high in tribute
We saw in His eyes the tears.
Behold, O Jerusalem, thy King has come!
Give glory, shout praises and sing!

Hosanna! Hosanna! Hosanna!
Blessed is He that cometh in the name of the lord
Hosanna! Hosanna! Blessed be the King!
Glory in the highest! Hosanna!

Jesus will soon come to earth again.
Then nations and kindred will stand
Before the throne, before the Lamb,
In white robes, with palms in our hands, we’ll sing:

Hosanna! Hosanna!
Praises we will sing!
All glory to our King!
Hosanna!

07. To Meet My King
Is there oil in my lamp? Does my light shine strong and clear?
Is there oil in my lamp to light the way?
I wonder, am I prepared to meet the Lord?
My life’s work is the gift I bring.
Is there oil in my lamp? Am I prepared to meet my King?

We are all to come to the wedding feast.
To meet the bridegroom we now go.
Hurry! Bring your lamp for the night soon falls,
And when he comes we cannot know.

Is there oil in my lamp? Does my light shine strong and clear?
Is there oil in my lamp to light the way?
I wonder, am I prepared to meet the Lord?
My life’s work is the gift I bring.
Is there oil in my lamp? Am I prepared to meet my King?

The hour is growing long ‘ere the bridegroom comes.
The night is dark, yet I can see —
How clearly does my life pass before my eyes!
Is this foolish virgin with so little oil really me?

What can I do? How can I prepare?
For soon comes the bridegroom, and I want to be with Him!
I’ve long awaited this time!
Can you feel — can you hear my hear sing?
Hear it sing!
Is there oil in my lamp? For soon I meet my King!

What gift have I to give when the bridegroom comes?
Our gift is what we have become.
Is your life-lamp glowing with faith-filled oil,
With holy service and with love?

Is there oil in my lamp? Does my light shine strong and clear?
Is there oil in my lamp to light the way?
I wonder, am I prepared to meet the Lord?
My life’s work is the gift I bring.
Is there oil in my lamp? Am I prepared to meet my King?

08. Thy Will Be Done
“Sit ye here while I go and pray,” we heard the Master say,
And with just a few He walked away.
“Sorrow heavy fills my soul, even unto death.
“Will ye tarry here and watch with me?”

Then He went a little further, fell upon His face and prayed,
“Oh, Father, if it can be, take away this cup from me!
“Yet not as I will, but Thy will be done.”

He returned unto us and found our spirits strong,
But flesh was weak, and heavy eyes were closed.
“Sleepest thou? Why sleepest ye? Rise up and pray!
“Couldst thou not an hour watch with me?”

Then He went a little further, fell upon His face and prayed,
“Oh, Father, if it can be, take away this cup from me!
“Yet not as I will, but Thy will be done.”

Again He came, again we slept, so He prayed on alone,
“Father, if Thou wilt, remove this cup from me!”
Then from heav’n and angel came, and gave Him strength to meet the pain,
“Oh, Father, Thy will be done.”

In agony on through the night, He prayed more earnestly.
Great drops of blood from every pore fell as He unlocked the door to immortality.
For all the world…. for me!

Though He fain would have passed the cup,
To do Thy will, He drank it up, ever doing what was asked of Him,
Oh, that I could be like Him —
Always saying, “Thy will be done!”

09. Mary's Song
Our time with the Master was lost. We wept as he hung on the cross.
When they carried His body away, when they layed Him in the grave,
I was there.

I came to mourn before dawn. Who’s taken the Master? He’s gone!
I searched the tomb in vain. I cried in grief and pain,
Then He came….

I saw Him! I heard His voice! I saw Him!
And who am I? Why has He chosen me
To be the first to know and see He lives again!

Rabonni! It was all I could say. In a moment, He’d gone away.
I ran to share what He’d said, “Rejoice! The Master’s not dead!”
Then I said:

I saw Him! I heard His voice! I saw Him!
And who am I? Why has He chosen me
To be the first to know and see He lives again!
To think that He chose me… To be the first who saw Him!
I saw Him!

10. What Do We Know of Christ?
What think ye of Christ? He was a teacher its true.
What think ye of Christ? He did miracles too!
He turned the water in to pure wine.
He healed the lepers and He healed the blind.
But He was much more. He was much more.

What do we know of Christ? He is the Son of God,
The Kind of Israel, the Holy One of God,
The Savior, Messiah, The Holy Lamb of God.
The Son of the Living God.

What think ye of Christ? He was a teacher its true.
What think ye of Christ? He did miracles too!
He fed a thousand with one loaf of bread.
He healed the lame and He raised the dead.
But He was much more. He was much more.

What do we know of Christ? He is the Son of God,
the King of Israel, the Holy One of God,
The Savior, Messiah, The Holy Lamb of God.
The Son of the Living God!
