Act One

01. Hidden Treasures
A man was walking in a field
And came upon a treasure that was hidden
Then in his joy, he gathered everything he owned – and sold it
To buy the field and gain the treasure.

A merchant man sought goodly pearls.
In his quest he traveled near and far.
Then he found one! He found one pearl of great price! He sold all
And bought the pearl. It was his treasure.

We have got treasures just waiting for you.
It you look now you will find them.
Have you been seeking a pearl that is true?
This pearl can change your life!

So if you’ve stumbled on this pearl,
Or if you’ve searched a lifetime for this knowledge,
Make it yours! Do everything you need to do to live it!
It is the great pearl: The gospel treasure.

02. Lazarus

See the rich man Rich man
In purple clothes Great clothes
He eats well ev’ry night and day Steak and lamb

A beggar man Poor man
Sits at the gate Poor man
Dogs come to lick his open sores Poor poor man!

All that he wants Hear this
Is a few crumbs Feed him
What does the rich man do for him? Nothing, nothing, evil man!

It came to pass that the beggar died, and he was carried away.
Angels took him up to Abraham. That’s where he could stay.

Then the rich man Rich man
That man died too He died!
He went on right away to hell My, oh my!

When he was there So hot
He saw a far A far
The beggar man with Abraham Lookin’ fine

Oh, AbrahamHe cried
I see you there A far
Please let that beggar come to me, come to me!
Oh, let him dip Water!
His fingertip Water!
That he may cool my burning – I’m tormented in this flame.

Son, remember while you lived you had the good and this man had the bad.
You didn’t help him and that don’t sit too good, so now you get to feel bad.
And don’t you see this great big gulf that divides your place from his?
He can’t get to you and you can’t get to here and that’s the way it is!

Said the Rich Man Rich Man
Hey, “Father Abe Ra-Ham
Send that man to my father’s house, send him please.

Oh, let him teach Let him
My family Let him
‘Cause I don’t want them comin’ here. Don’t come here, oh, don’t come here!”

They have Moses and all the prophets, let them hear the men I sent.
On, no, father, if the dead went back to them, then they would repent.

They did not hear Moses
They did not hear Prophets
And if a dead man rose again, would they hear?

They would not hear Moses
They would not hear Prophets
And if a dead man rose again Would they hear?

They will not hear No ears
They will not see No eyes
They won’t believe No faith

They must first believe, then they will see.
They must first believe, then they will see.
They must first believe – then they will see.

Oh, father, Abe, oh, Abraham.
Oh, father, Abe, oh, Abraham.
Oh, father, Abe, oh, Abraham.
Oh, father, Abraham, oh, Abraham.

03. Why Am I Here?
If riches aren’t the goal. If “getting’s” not the plan…
Then I have climbed the ladder to the top – of the wrong wall.
If it’s not what I’ve got – If it’s not where I’ve been –
If it’s not who I know, or what I’ve done, then where do I begin?

Why am I here? What is the purpose of my days?
What have I done today that really matters in the smallest way?
Why am I here? Is there a need for my tomorrows?
In chasing dreams the world holds dear, I’ve pierced myself with sorrows…
Why am I here?

And if my soul should be this night required of me
Would all I’ve bought and saved be left behind to rust and fade?
Will I be left alone to face a Great Unknown?
To hear the questions for which I’ve no answers – I wish I could know

Why am I here? What is the purpose of my days?
What have I done today that really matters in the smallest way?
Why am I here? Is there a need for my tomorrows?
In chasing dreams the world holds dear, I’ve pierced myself with sorrows…
Why am I here?

I’d give so much to know… why am I here?

04. The Strength of Thy Love
Help her. She’s lost. Find her.
Look now. She’s lost. Find her.

We are safe here, we will stay.
Find the one who’s gone astray.
She didn’t mean to fall away.
Now she needs you.

Help her. She’s lost. Find her.
Look now. She’s lost. Find her.

Where could that poor lost Iamb Is she hurt – in agony?
Does she wait to be set free?
Now she needs you!

Help her. She’s lost. Find her.
Look now. She’s lost. Find her.

‘Though left in the wilderness, I’m not afraid!
I feel the strength of thy love.
For next I may be the one who goes astray.
I know you’d leave ninety-nine to find this one!

Good shepherd, I love you, good shepherd.

I love you, good shepherd, I love you.

05. Light A Candle
Once a woman had 10 silver coins, each was valued the same.
Then through carelessness, one coin was lost,
How can she find it again?

She must light a candle, sweep the house, and seek diligently.
Light a candle, sweep the house, find the lost one today.

Soon the woman called out to her friends, “Oh, rejoice with me, sing and be glad!
“That which I lost is now found!”

How did you find it? For we’ve lost coins too. “Just tell us what we should do!”

She said, Light a candle, sweep the house, and seek diligently.
Light a candle, sweep the house, find the lost one today.”

Each of us bears an image too, of the Great king who reigns.
Like the coins we are gathered too. Like coins we each bear his name.

Sometimes through carelessness, someone is lost.
One who was once here is gone.
We must do all we can to bring him back.
We must do all we can to right the wrong.

Just look around – See! Some are gone away.
We must do what we can: Welcome them home with open arms – Find him today.

Are you the lost one? What keeps you away? Angels await your return!
If you have made mistakes, we understand:
Making mistakes is the way we must learn…
We want you home! We want you home and we will:

Light a candle, sweep the house, and seek diligently
Light a candle, sweep the house, find the lost one today.

Light a candle, sweep the house, and seek diligently.
Light a candle, sweep the house, find the lost one today.
Find the lost one today. Find him today. Find him today.

06. Back at Home
I know that what you’re doing is not what’s best for you
But try to tell a grown son?.. That’s madness.
I cannot control your plans and tell you what to do.
But sow these seeds and you will soon reap sadness.

Oh, this father’s eyes won’t be dry tonight
And this father wishes you’d stay home.
And this father’s heart hopes you’ll always do what’s right.
And if you hit a hard time,
Remember you are loved and welcome back at home.

People whisper stories and I fear that they are true:
Tales of wild nights and wasted days.
If you’re to learn a lesson, I hope you learn it in your youth,
While you have time to turn and mend your ways.

Oh, this father’s eyes won’t be dry tonight
And this father wishes you were home.
And this father’s heart hopes that you will be all right…
And when you hit the hard times,
Remember you are loved and welcome back at home.

Some say you are lost for good. I can’t believe that’s true.
A soul is only lost when it’s forgotten.
I won’t give up believing, for what else can I do?
Oh, my son, I never will forget you!

Oh, this father’s eyes are not dry tonight
‘Cause this father wishes you’d come home.
And this father’s arms ache to once more hold you tight.
Whatever you have done, know that you are loved and

Whatever you have done…
We love you..

Back at home…
Back at home…
Back at home…

07. Oh, Father
Even the swine eat better than I do.
Oh, what a fool! What a fool!
My father’s servants have bread to spare;
I perish with hunger and nobody cares…

Oh, this is not the way I thought it would be!
I didn’t know it would be this hard – I just wanted to be free!
Now all is lost… Ev’rything is gone. I was so wrong.

Father, I have sinned against heaven.
Father, I have sinned before thee.
I am no longer worthy to be called thy son
Oh, Father, not after what I’ve done.
Father, I’m ashamed to come to thee.
Father, could you even look at me?
I will do anything, be a servant to you.
Oh, Father, I’m coming back to you!

Father, do you still love your youngest son?
Father, ‘though I’ve been a wayward one…
I remember the dreams you were dreaming for me…
Oh, Father – I’m so sorry…

Oh, Father-

Come back home…

Oh, Father –

Come back home…

08. Hallelujah, Amen!
Bring the best robe for my son! Put a ring on his hand!
Bring him shoes for these poor feet! Hear! Obey my commands!

For this my son was dead! Now he’s alive again!
He was lost, but now is found! Hallelujah, amen!

Bring to me our best calf. Kill it and let us eat.
Let us dance and be merry! Let us make a great feast!

For this my son was dead! Now he’s alive again! He was lost, but now is found! Hallelujah, amen!

Here’s the best robe for this son! Here’s the ring for his hand!
Here are shoes for his poor feet. We’ll obey thy command.

For this poor one was dead! Now he’s alive again!
He was lost, but now is found. Hallelujah, amen!

We have brought in the best calf. When it’s done we will eat.
Let us dance and be merry! Let us make a great feast!
For this poor one was dead! Now he’s alive again!
He was lost, but now is found. Hallelujah, amen!

These many years I have served thee so well,
l did not hurt thee, l did not rebel.
But this poor excuse for a son staggers in:
The fat calf is killed and the party begins!
This is not fair! This should be mine – not his!
Oh, where, where is my reward?

Do you begrudge him this one calf today,
When all that I have here will be yours someday?

If you want a calf, just go take one – take ten!
What your brother’s lost, we can’t give him again!

09. Joy in Heaven
For this my son was dead…now he’s alive again…
He was lost..but now is found…

Hallelujah, amen.

We have brought in the best calf. When it’s done we will eat.
Let us dance and be merry! Let us make a great feast!

For this poor one was dead. Now he’s alive again!
He was lost, but now is found! Hallelujah, amen!
Hallelujah, amen
Hallelujah, amen
Hallelujah, amen

Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah!
There is joy in heaven when one sinner repents!
There is joy in the presence of angels.
There is joy in heaven when one sinner repents!
There is joy in the presence of angels.

Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah!
Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah!

For this is the time for men to prepare: For all to prepare to meet God.
For this is the time for men to prepare: For all to prepare to meet God.

Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah!
Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah!

Come back where you belong!
You have been gone too long!
He waits with open arms for you!
Come back and hear the angels sing!

Come back and hear the angels…

Hallelujah!

Act Two

10. Shame, Shame, Shame

If you are invited to a wedding feast,
Don’t sit in the highest room, don’t take the best seat
Someone more important’s sure to come along,
Then you’ll have to hear us sing this little song.

Shame, shame, shame, what’s got into you?
Why’d you push yourself ahead and grab the best view?
Shame, shame, shame, no you don’t belong here.
This is for important people – You go sit in the rear.

It is so much better to sit in the last room.
If you’re loved, your friend will come and find you soon.
He’ll say, “Hey, why are you sitting way down here?
“You are my most honored guest, I want you near.” Yeah, he’ll say:

“Shame, shame, shame, what’s got into you?
“Come up to the highest room, you’ll love the view.
“Shame, shame, shame, you are my honored guest
“I don’t want you sittin’ down here – you deserve the best!”

Christ told this story when He noticed the crowd
Pushing and shoving when they went to sit down.
If you want earthly glory, hey, that’s up to you…
But don’t expect to get it up in heaven too.

Build yourself a hospital and give it your name,
Your reward is earthly, your reward is fame.
Better to be humble – do it secretly.
Your reward will come in the eternities.

Shame, shame, learn your lesson from the past:
You know the last will be first and the first will be last.
Shame if you work for glory – not out of love,
If you’ve been honored on earth, you know you can’t be honored above.

If you’ve been honored on earth, you know you can’t be honored above.
If you’ve been honored on earth, you know you can’t be honored above.

Shame, shame, hey, baby, now I’m talkin’ to you!
Listen good to my song and then you’ll know that to do.
Shame, shame, learn your lesson from the past:
You know the last will be first and the first ones will be last.

You know the last will be first and the first ones will be last.
You know the last will be first and the first ones will be –

Last.

11. Children of Light
The children of light know there is more after this life,
Yet they squander their time on things that won’t last through the night.
Who are wiser? The children of this world.
Who are wiser? The children of this world.

They know they’ll grow old, they know they will need to earn gold.
So they work and they plan so they can keep their homes.
The children of light know there is more after this life,
Yet they squander their time on things that won’t last through the night.

Time, time, time, don’t waste your time Time, time, time, don’t waste your time Time, time, time, don’t waste your time Time, time, time

Things on this earth can be deceiving.
They even capture the hearts of the believing.
They take our precious time, they dazzle our minds.
Yet these earthly things won’t make it through the great night.

Time, time, time, don’t waste your time Time, time, time, don’t waste your time
Time, time, time, don’t waste your time Time, time, time

Have you prepared, oh, children of light?
Or have you been dancing all through your lives?
Yes, it’s fine to have fun, just know what you’ll have when the music’s done!

Time – don’t waste it. Time – don’t waste it.
Time. Time. Time. Time.

12. Judge Bad Rap

My name is Judge Rap and I’m pretty bad
I fear not God and I fear not man
If you’ve done wrong you can not hide,
‘Cause the law in these parts is whatever I decide.

People come from all around
To hear the bad judgements that I hand down
If you’ve got a problem, listen and learn
Or get in line and wait your turn:

Avenge me! Avenge me of my adversary!
For I am a widow. I am alone.
Will you avenge and defend me?

Sister, what’s got into you.
When you come to Rap Court, you gotta rap too!
I ain’t gonna help you, Don’t look at me!
Go take care of your own enemy.

Yeah, my name is Judge Rap and I’m pretty bad.
I fear not God and I fear not man.
Who’s next? Come on! Get up to the line!
Just remember to rap and rhyme.

This woman and I live in the same home.
She had a baby and I had my own
You know that no one was there, and I don’t lie!
But then one night, her baby died.

She took my baby right from my bed that night
And next to me lay down her own baby – dead.
I woke to a dead child! I started to cry!
But when I looked again I saw the baby was not mine.

She lies! She lies! The living is my son!
I’m sorry for her, but I know hers is the dead one!
She lies! She lies!
Just tell us who’s the mother of the baby that’s alive.

Hey, that’s enough, I get the picture!
But girls, I gotta say you’re in the wrong book of scripture.
Now, I’m a good judge, I’m almost a saint!
But I know my limits and Solomon I ain’t.

So hop on a camel, ride back a thousand years.
If you wanna impress ’em just tell ’em you were here.
Maybe Solomon has heard of me ’cause I’m pretty good –
In fact I know they want my story back in Hollywood.

Avenge me! Avenge me!
For I am a widow. I am alone.
Will you avenge and defend me?

Girl, we gotta have a little chat,
‘Cause if you want help, then you must rap!
All you gotta do is speak in time,
Now just stay away until you’ve learned to rhyme! Next!

My name is Soddom and I am Gommorah.
You’ll know that we are VIPs if you read your Torah.
We heard we were expected up at the court,
So Soddom and Gommorah are here to report

My name is Judge Rap and I’m bad it’s true,
But I ain’t got a punishment bad enough for you.
You’ll have to go up to the court on high
But keep an eye on the sky, ’cause if it rains, you’ll fry

Avenge me! Avenge me of my adversary!
For I am a widow. I am alone.
Will you avenge and defend me?

Sister, you gotta rap and rhyme
If you can’t learn, then you’re wastin’ my time.
So just go away, don’t be such a pest.
I’ll take one more case but then I gotta have a rest.

Avenge me! Avenge me!
For I am a widow. I am alone.
Will you avenge? Will you avenge?
Will you avenge and defend me?

All right all right! I will avenge!
I’ve gotta do something ’cause I’m at my wits end!
If you can get me to finally help you,
Just think what joy persistent prayers can bring to you!

13. Pray Always

Would I command you to pray if I did not intend to answer every prayer?
Are those the actions of a Father who cares?
Trust in me with all you heart. Turn to me in your despair.

Behold, I stand at the door. I knock, if anyone will hear my voice,
Answer the door please, child, make the right choice!
I’ll come in and sup with you. Through prayer you can hear my voice.

And when you can’t go on
pray always
When all hope is gone
pray always
When help is what you need
pray always
Answers come to those on bended knees – Always!

And when you pour out your soul, the things your heart feels when you kneel to pray,
Are more important than the words that you say.
Ask in faith. The pow’r is yours. I must bless if you obey.

And when you can’t go on
pray always
When all hope is gone
pray always
When help is what you need
pray always
Answers come to those on bended knees – Always!

Sometimes you must ask and ask, so that your faith can grow.
And oh, my child, there are times when I must answer, “No.”

Then there are times you will pray when you will ask for things that you truly need, But answers rest in someone else’s deeds.
I can whisper and inspire, but they still have their agency.

Oh, I could never force a child, for when I sent them down, I promised they’d be free.
Now I must trust their good as they trusted me.
But I am here. I am near. And you can always talk to me.

And when you can’t go on
pray always
When all hope is gone
pray always
When help is what you need
pray always

Answers come to those on bended knees – Always.
Answers come to those on bended knees – Always.

14. Forgiveness
We should forgive one another.
If we forgive not our brothers,
Before the Lord, ours is the greater sin.
Oh, the Lord will forgive whom He will forgive
But we’re required to ev’ry man forgive

Oh, The Lord will judge between me and thee and reward us according to our deeds.
The Lord will judge between me and thee and reward us according to our deeds.

Forgive the wrong others do, then God above can forgive you
But if you won’t forgive, then you can’t be forgiven.
Oh, The Lord will forgive whom He will forgive
But we’re required to ev’ry man forgive

Oh, He has giv’n us everything! What can we give Him in return?
A repentant heart – and more: Kindness to His children here on earth.

Forgiveness is a virtue, and virtues have great worth.
But in order to forgive we must first be hurt….

Oh, He has giv’n us everything! What can we give Him in return?A repentant heart – and more: Kindness to His children here on earth.

Forgive the ones who wrong you.
Remember ev’ry child’s divine worth.

15. A Penny From The Lord

Listen, baby-cakes, why are you so mad?
You got what you bargained for right down to the last man!
So what’s with the sad face? Do you think you should get more-
More than just a penny from the Lord?

Why are you so bothered they were paid a penny too?
So what if they were? It won’t take away even a little from you.
If you keep counting who works hardest each day,
You’ll be too busy to do your own work and hey, baby, then you won’t get paid.

‘Cause this is not a race, listen to the plan:
You get what you bargained for right down to the last man.
So lose the sad face – You’re not gonna get more –
No more than just a penny from the Lord.

What is a penny? It’s the greatest reward.
How do you earn it? First, join forces with the Lord.
Do your own work singleheartedly,
Then you will find a penny can buy great things in eternity

Oh, if this was a race, everyone could win.
If you got a late start, now’s a great time to jump in!
So lose the sad face! What are ya waitin’ for?
Come and earn a penny from the Lord.

A penny is the most that He can give to you it’s true,
But keep the commandments and you will find just what a penny can do.
Don’t try to judge who will deserve the reward.
It’s none of your business – just listen to me – we leave that all up to the Lord.

Hey, if this was a race, everyone could win.
If you got a late start, now’s a great time to jump in!
So lose the sad face! What are ya waitin’ for?
Come and earn a penny from the Lord.
Come and earn a penny from the Lord.
Come and earn a penny, I said a penny!
Come and earn a penny from the Lord!

16. When Saw We Thee?
The Son of Man shall come in glory and all the holy angels with him
He’ll sit upon the throne of glory. Before him shall be gathered all nations.

Come ye blessed of my Father. Come ye blessed of my Father
Inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of this world.

For I was hungry and ye gave me meat.
I was thirsty and ye gave me a drink.
I was a stranger, and ye took me in.
When I was naked, ye clothed me.
I was sick and ye visited me.
I was in prison and ye came unto me.
For all these actions I give you a crown.
When I was thy neighbor, you helped me.

When saw we thee hungry, and gave thee meat?
When saw we thee thirsty, and gave thee a drink?
When wast thou a stranger that we took thee in?
When wast thou naked that we clothed thee?
When saw we thee and visited thee?
When wast thou in prison, that we came to thee?

When ye have done it to the least of these, then ye have done it unto me.

Depart from me ye goats accursed to everlasting fire.
Ye said ye would follow me, depart from me ye liars!

For I was hungry and ye gave me no meat.
I was thirsty and ye gave me no drink.
I was a stranger, and ye took me not in.
When I was naked, did ye clothed me?
I was sick ye did not visit me.
I was in prison and ye came not me.
If ye had truly felt love for me,
Ye would have found a way to help me.

When saw we thee hungry, and gave thee no meat?
When did we see you?
When saw we thee thirsty, and gave thee no drink?
When could we have helped you?
If thou wast a stranger we’d have taken thee in!
We would have taken you in!
If thou wast naked we’d have clothed thee!
We would have done that for you!

When saw we thee sick and did not visit thee?
I did not see you there!
When wast thou in prison, that we did not see?
I did not see you there!

If ye had done it to the least of these
Ye would have done it unto me.

When saw we thee hungry, and gave thee meat?
When did we see you?
When saw we thee thirsty, and gave thee a drink?
When did we help you?
When wast thou a stranger that we took thee in?
When did we take you in?
When wast thou naked that we clothed thee?
When did we do this for you?
When saw we thee sick and visited thee?
I did not see you there!
When wast thou in prison, that we came to thee?
I did not see you there!
When we do it to the least of these, that’s how we show our love for thee.
That’s how we show our love for thee.

We must do more than just hope.
We must do more than just pray.
We’ll be your hands down here.
We’ll be your hands down here.
If we can help we will.
If we can help we will.
When we do it to the least of these, that’s how we show our love for thee.
That’s how we show our love for thee.
That’s how we show our love for thee.
